(Italy 1917-2013)
|
|
Ennio
Morricone:
A classmate of director Sergio Leone with whom he would
form one of the great director/composer partnerships (right
up there with Eisenstein & Prokofiev, Hitchcock &
Herrmann, Fellini & Rota), Ennio Morricone studied at
Rome's Santa Cecilia Conservatory, where he specialized
in trumpet. His first film scores were relatively undistinguished,
but he was hired by Leone for Per un pugno di dollari (1964)
on the strength of some of his song arrangements..... |
Armando
Trovajoli
was born on September 2, 1917 in Rome, Lazio, Italy. He
is known for his work on Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003), Matrimonio
all'italiana (1964) and C'eravamo tanto amati (1974). He
was married to Maria Paola Sapienza and Pier Angeli. He
died on February 28, 2013 in Rome.(here) |

One of the greatest qualities of "Days Of Vengeance"
is the score, especially the main theme by Ennio Morricone,
which Quentin Tarantino used in Kill Bill almost four decades
later.(Here) |
The
music score is superb. It's good enough to want to buy the
soundtrack (if you can find it). The credits listed on my
copy say the music is by Armando Trovaioli. IMDb's listing
also credits Ennio Morricone. It's no surprise that Morricone
had something to do with this score, because it is definitely
that good.(Here) |

Summary
of music:
The composers for the film all are Armando
Trovajoli and Ennio
Morricone in the 3 main web sites IMDB,
CHIMAI

(See above 3 screenshots and below table 1,2), but we cannot
find which music to be composed by Ennio Morricone? (See
below table 3,4 5. They show the composer only is Armando
Trovajoli). We find that the film was listed in "
Miscellaneous Contributions " column and used Morricone's
pre-existing music
in our

Morricone:
was born 10 November 1928) is an Italian composer, orchestrator,
conductor, and former trumpet player. A classmate of director
Sergio Leone with whom he would form one of the great director/composer
partnerships (right up there with Eisenstein & Prokofiev,

but he was hired by Leone for Per un pugno di dollari (1964)
on the strength of some of his song arrangements. His score
for that film, with its sparse arrangements, unorthodox
instrumentation (bells, electric guitars, harmonicas, the
distinctive twang of the jew's harp) and memorable tunes,
revolutionized the way music would be used in Westerns,
and it is hard to think of a post-Morricone Western score
that doesn't in some way reflect his influence. Although
his name will always be synonymous with the spaghetti Western,
Morricone has also contributed to a huge range of other
film genres: comedies, dramas, thrillers, horror films,
romances, art movies, exploitation movies - making him one
of the film world's most versatile artists. He has written
nearly 400 film scores, so a brief summary is impossible,
but his most memorable work includes the Leone films, Gillo
Pontecorvo's La battaglia di Algeri (1966) , Roland Joff¨¦'s
The Mission (1986), Brian De Palma's The Untouchables (1987)
and Giuseppe Tornatore's Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (1988), plus
a rare example of sung opening credits for Pier Paolo Pasolini's
Uccellacci e uccellini (1966)......(IMDB,

In
order to avenge a friend and to fulfill his last wish, Rocco has
to find out what happened to an army corps that has mysteriously
disappeared. He therefore puts on the disguise of a doctor and starts
investigating in a somewhat uncomfortable town. (IMDB) |
Great spaghetti
western, beautiful starlet: An army corps has mysteriously disappeared.
They are actually hostages near a place called Snake Valley. A gunslinger,
Rocco, is visited by a friend who tells him about this. The man's
dying wish is for Rocco to find out what happened to the army corps.
Rocco goes to the town near where the soldiers are held captive,
posed undercover as a doctor. Cult star Soledad Miranda plays Josefa,
a flirtatious barmaid at the saloon hotel where he stays. Rocco
starts investigating the disappearance of the soldiers in hopes
to rescue them. This flick has catchy music and the presence of
the beautiful Soledad Miranda, along with star Hunt Powers, makes
it an entertaining flick. (IMDB)
|
Rocco ¨C also
called the man with two faces ¨C is visited by Pinkerton, who wants
him to investigate the disappearance, and possible kidnapping, of
some soldiers. Rocco declines, as he has a good life teaching women
self-defence. When Pinkerton is assassinated, Rocco changes his
mind and goes to Snake Valley disguised as a doctor. He uses narcotic
gas to loosen the tongues, and gets help from a sidekick and two
women at the saloon. He is disclosed and heavily beaten, but eventually
frees the hostages, while the responsible big boss gets killed.(WIKI) |
Sugar Colt
(Hunt Powers) is an undercover agent who travels to the town of
Snake Valley to investigate the disappearance of a group of U.S
army officers who are being held for ransom. Posing as a doctor,
Colt unravels the mystery surrounding the men's disappearance while
battling the town's army of henchmen and eventually has to confront
the evil town boss in order to liberate the captives. Along the
way he wins the affections and respect of the lovely Soledad Miranda.

Summary
of the music£ºThe
film was composed by Luis Bacalov, Ennio Morricone was
involved in the work. But various sayings are different
for his specific role in the film: Two people are listed
as composers in the IMDB,
and Ennio Morricone is noted as uncredited; Morricone
as
"Music supervisor and was listed in the Miscellaneous
column
in CHIMAI;
Only Bacalov was listed but no Morricone in Soundtrack.
This can also be considered to be a typical disagreement
works in the Ennio Morricone filmography,
it need to discuss by all aspects.
