Captured
Confederate raider Gary Diamond is asked by a Yankee colonel to
assist in preventing further unnecessary bloodshed between the two
sides. In receiving news that a Confederate regiment is planning
to attack Yankee Fort Yuma to steal its gold reserves the Yankee
colonel asks Diamond for help.As a Confederate,Diamond wants to
save Confederate lives. He agrees to warn the Confederate regiment
that an attack on Fort Yuma would be futile since the fort is heavily
defended with artillery. The Confederates believe that Fort Yuma
is lightly defended.Gary Diamond escorted by Yankee Captain Lefevre
and Sergeant Pitt head toward Fort Yuma to prevent a massacre but
Fort Yuma's gold is on everyone's mind,friend and foe alike.(IMDB) |

Confederate
Major Sanders (Jacques Sernas), continues fighting the North after
the conclusion of the American Civil War. Former Rebel Gary Diamond
(Giuliano Gemma), now a guide, leads a pair of Union soldiers to
obstruct Sanders before he can pull off a raid on Fort Yuma. However
the others are unaware that Diamond knows that one of the Union
officers is actually Sanders' spy. More complications ensue, pairing
Diamond with the aptly named saloon-girl Connie Breastful (Sophie
Daumier). Later Diamond is found to be a traitor and is tortured
severely before Sanders' plot is foiled.(WIKI) |
Near the end
of the Civil War, imprisoned Confederate raider Giuliano Gemma is
sent under guard to warn both his men and the Army at Fort Yuma
that an impending rebel raid is really nothing but a ruse by scoundrels
from both sides, in cahoots to take the fort's gold for themselves
during the chaos. Soon Gemma slips his treacherous escort and attempts
to complete the mission himself.(Here) |

film W
Django! (Director
by Edoardo Mulargia, main star by Anthony Steffen) also
has an alias is "Viva Django", Please
note the distinction. |
|
A mysterious
gunfighter named Django is employed by a local crooked political
boss as a hangman to execute innocent locals framed by the boss,
who wants their land. What the boss doesn't know is that Django
isn't hanging the men at all, just making it look like he is, and
using the men he saves from the gallows to build up his own "gang"
in order to take revenge on the boss, who, with Django's former
best friend, caused the death of his wife years before.(Here) |
Get
a Coffin ready is unique among the movies that tried to capitalize
on the popularity of the Django character in the sense that it was
meant to star Franco Nero, the one and only. In 1966 Nero had signed
a contract for three movies for producer Manolo Bolognini, Django
being the first, Texas, Addio the second, and this one the third.
But then, all of a sudden, Nero decided to go to Hollywood to play
Camelot. Director Baldi proposed Terence Hill as the replacement
killer, drawing attention to the fact that he looked like Nero's
younger brother. Hill was still rather unknown and when Baldi showed
a photo of Hill dressed up as Django, Bolognini thought Baldi made
a practical joke. In '67 Nero clearly was the star and Hill the
lookalike. Half a decade later, after Trinity had made an international
star out of Hill, he would be the real thing, while Nero would be
cast repeatedly in comedy westerns as a Hill lookalike. One of life's
little ironies ...The working title was Viva Django! and producer
Bolognini, cinematographer Enzo Barboni and screenwriter Franco
Rossetti had all been involved in Corbucci's groundbreaking movie
(*1). The movie itself is neither a real sequel nor a real prequel.
Django's wife is killed, but not while he is fighting for the Union
(far, too far away). In this movie Django is a professional guard
of money transports, who is betrayed by a former friend (Frank)
who has turned to politics. Tired of his line of work, Django wants
to settle down with his wife Lucy in California, but their convoy
is attacked, and Lucy killed, by Lucas (Eastman) and his men, who
work for Frank. Several years later, Django is preparing his revenge,
working as a hangman who saves the lives of the people he is supposed
to execute. In this way, he hopes to assemble a private militia
of men faithful to him, in order to face his enemies and their numerous
henchmen. But when he has turned his back, to save the woman of
one of his men from being hanged, the very man double-crosses him
.......The score, by Gianfranco Reverberi is a special one. He
used a theme written by Ennio Morricone for Le Pistole non discutono
and was forced to credit him for this. Nearly four decades later,
in 2006, Gnarls Barkley used a piece of the score for his smash
hit Crazy (1). Reverberi himself said he had trouble to recognize
his own music, others were more categorical. (Here) |
|
Django
is wounded and his wife is killed when the gold transport that he
guards is attacked by the men of his ¡±friend¡± David Barry, who wants
the gold to finance a political career. Django
pretends to be dead and starts working as a hangman, who spares
the lives of the condemned victims of David Barry¡¯s conspiracies.
He organises them in a band to ¡±haunt¡± the perjurers that sent them
to the gallow. This is part of a plan to disclose Barry and bring
him to justice. The ¡±hanged¡± are supposed to intercept an attack
on a gold transport and capture Barry¡¯s men to get evidence, but
Garcia - who earlier has saved Django¡¯s life during a fight within
the group - convinces the rest of the men that instead they should
take the gold for themselves. Garcia then kills the others.
Django saves
Garcia¡¯s wife from hanging, and she then saves Django after Barry
has captured him. Garcia regrets his treachery, which he explains
by the fact that he is poor, and helps Django lure Barry to the
graveyard, where Django digs up his own grave coffin and then kills
Barry and his gang with the machinegun kept in the coffin. Garcia
dies in the fight. Django leaves a sack of gold to Garcia¡¯s wife
¡±for you and the children¡± before he leaves..(WIKI) |

Gianfranco
Reverberi Gian
Franco Reverberi (born in 1934 in Genoa, Italy) is an Italian
composer and musician. He worked mainly on the soundtracks
for Spaghetti Westerns. He was one of the first Italian
rock music artists. He also worked with his brother Gian
Piero Reverberi on the song "Last Man Standing"
(or "Nel Cimitero di Tucson") from the 1968 soundtrack
of Django, Prepare a Coffin (Preparati la bara!) (one of
many unofficial sequels to Django), which forms the basis
of Gnarls Barkley's hit "Crazy".[1] Both brothers
are listed as writers of the song. Among his other credited
film scores are A Black Veil for Lisa (1968), Chimera (1968),
?Viva Am¨¦rica! (1969), Venus in Furs (1969) and La ragazza
del prete (1970). He also worked with Enzo Jannacci and
Giorgio Gaber. (WIKI) |

revolutionized the way music would be used in Westerns,
and it is hard to think of a post-Morricone Western score
that doesn't in some way reflect his influence. Although
his name will always be synonymous with the spaghetti Western,
Morricone has also contributed to a huge range of other
film genres: comedies, dramas, thrillers, horror films,
romances, art movies, exploitation movies - making him one
of the film world's most versatile artists. He has written
nearly 400 film scores, so a brief summary is impossible,
but his most memorable work includes the Leone films, Gillo
Pontecorvo's La battaglia di Algeri (1966) , Roland Joff¨¦'s
The Mission (1986), Brian De Palma's The Untouchables (1987)
and Giuseppe Tornatore's Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (1988), plus

¨C Click on "Musica da sera 1967"
Running time
of the show is 40 minutes. ¨C Hosted by Lisa Gastoni. . Ennio Morricone's
"Se telefonando" [2:48] is presented here with a different
arrangement and a different singer, Iva Zanicchi instead of Mina.
The reason being that it was considered not appropriate to show
a pregnant woman on television. Iva Zanicchi performs a new Morricone
composition as well, "Se non ci fosse un'amore nel mondo"
[3:37]. Morricone would use the same music for the love theme
of ROMA COME CHICAGO [also unreleased] one year later. A different
version of "Amorevole" [5:39] is shown, played on trumpet
by Nunzio Rotondo. The piece was first arranged by Morricone in
1964 for the "Musica sul velluto" LP. The piece "La
nostra notte" [4:10] features the subsequent voices of six
female members of I Cantori Moderni: Giulia De Mutiis, Gianna
Spagnulo, Adele Fiorucci, Edda Dell'Orso, Vittoria Cesareo and
Fiorella Granaldi. Gianna Spagnulo about "La nostra notte":
"Ennio wrote music and lyrics especially for this broadcast."
Music for the show was pre-recorded at the RAI Recording Studio,
so the tapes should still be available in the RAI archives. (MSV
94, March 2002). All music presented in MUSICA DA SERA has yet
to be released. (CHIMAI)

Morricone:
was born 10 November 1928) is an Italian composer, orchestrator,
conductor, and former trumpet player. A classmate of director
Sergio Leone with whom he would form one of the great director/composer
partnerships (right up there with Eisenstein & Prokofiev,
Hitchcock & Herrmann, Fellini & Rota), Ennio Morricone
studied at Rome's Santa Cecilia Conservatory, where he specialized
in trumpet. His first film scores were relatively undistinguished,
but he was hired by Leone for Per un pugno di dollari (1964)
on the strength of some of his song arrangements. His score
for that film, with its sparse arrangements, unorthodox
instrumentation (bells, electric guitars, harmonicas, the
distinctive twang of the jew's harp) and memorable tunes,
revolutionized the way music would be used in Westerns,
and it is hard to think of a post-Morricone Western score
that doesn't in some way reflect his influence. Although
his name will always be synonymous with the spaghetti Western,
Morricone has also contributed to a huge range of other
film genres: comedies, dramas, thrillers, horror films,
romances, art movies, exploitation movies - making him one
of the film world's most versatile artists.

Gruppo
di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza
(also known as The Group or Il Gruppo) was an avant-garde free improvisation
group considered the first experimental composers collective. The
collective was formed by Italian composer Franco Evangelisti in
Rome in 1964. Drawing on jazz, serialism, musique concrete, and
other avant-garde techniques developed by contemporary classical
music composers such as Luigi Nono and Giacinto Scelsi, the group
was dedicated to the development of new music techniques by improvisation,
noise-techniques, and anti-musical systems. The group members and
frequent guests made use of extended techniques on traditional classical
instruments, as well as prepared piano, tape music and electronic
music. During the 1970s the music continued to evolve to embrace
techniques and genres such as guitar feedback and funk. In addition
to concerts, the group issued a series of albums and contributed
to many scores by group member Ennio Morricone, including Un Tranquillo
Posto Di Campagna (1968) and Gli occhi freddi della paura (1971).
The group slowly disbanded after Evangelisti's death in 1980.....(WIKI) |
