Bruno
Cortona and Roberto Mariani meet by chance as Roberto helps
Bruno one day while everything is closed in Rome for the
holiday weekend. The two men could not be more different.
Thirty-six year old Bruno is extroverted, a man who seizes
opportunities as they arise, is an excitement seeker, has
never really grown up, but is a person to who many are drawn
because of his exuberance and masculine good looks. Law
student Roberto is introverted, controlled and so unsure
of himself that he doesn't really know why he chose law
as a career and is afraid not only to let the girl who lives
across the way from him, Valeria, know that he likes her,
but even to speak to her. He even has a photograph of her
in his wallet that he took clandestinely. Roberto reluctantly
gets caught up in the whirlwind of Bruno's last minute change
in plans for the holidays as the two head off together in
Bruno's Lancia Aurelia sports car, their joy ride which
will be largely at Bruno's whim. That reluctance is ...
(IMDB)
|
"Bruno
and Il Sorpasso are full of wonderful surprises and hidden
depths, and they continually slip away from any attempts
to reduce them". "Risi
proves to have a deft sense of managing the intertwined
humor and drama of his incredibly complex characters".
It's
a sunny, lazy day in early-1960s Rome - the city is "like
a graveyard," with everyone away on holiday."(Here) |

pezzi messi l'uno accanto all'altro, additiva.
mutato, fino alle estreme conseguenze.....(More)

A post Italian
neo-realist film full of life and spontaneity. Every second of
this film is refreshing and the characters take you along for
the ride.
The ultimate
Italian road comedy, Il sorpasso stars the unlikely pair of Vittorio
Gassman and Jean-Louis Trintignant as, respectively, a waggish,
freewheeling bachelor and the straitlaced law student he takes
on a madcap trip from Rome to Tuscany. An unpredictable journey
that careers from slapstick to tragedy, this film, directed by
Dino Risi, is a wildly entertaining commentary on the pleasures
and consequences of the good life. A holy grail of commedia all’italiana,
Il sorpasso is so fresh and exciting that one can easily see why
it has long been adored in Italy.(Here)

Note : le
mentre nell’etichetta è accreditata come colonna sonora originale
Notes : both
songs were composed by Nino Paolo Tassone, arranged and conducted
by Ennio Morricone, sung by Miranda Martino with the presence
of I Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni. Sound accompaniment of Martino's
beautiful vocals has a moderate development in the first song
whireas in "Gianni" there is a greater rhythmic dynamism.
You may notice some contradictions about this single. I try to
list them: the Rca Italiana logotype on both sides of the cover
in opposition to Rca Victor on the two sides of the label. The
sentence with regard to Gianni "dalla colonna sonora originale
del film Il Sorpasso" (from the original soundtrack of the
film Il Sorpasso) on the back cover whereas on the label is credited
as original soundtrack from the film Ombre Vive. The only indisputable
point is the nonexistence of other copies if not in those exact
characteristics. We go to order: the film by Dino Risi arrived
in movie theaters on December 1962 while Ombre Vive was released
only at the end of the year after. It is likely that this obscure
film, on which it is difficult to have some definite information,
had been shot ??in 1962 but, either for the distribution channels
or censorship reasons was not showed in that year. The single
was ready but unreleased for unknown reasons. Italian RCA records
in 1962/63 had usually two different labels: Rca Italiana for
Italian pop and rock singers and Rca Victor for the foreign artists,
Italian jazz and sometimes the soundtracks. The latter two categories
because they had as main destination the foreign market. With
the inclusion of Gianni in the soundtrack of Il Sorpasso and film
great success, Rca decided to issue the single already present
in their warehouse. However it was necessary to change the art
cover, that's why we find the correct sentence and the wonderful
Spaak. It would be too expensive to re-print the vinyl. Being
present a song in a movie with excellent results at the Italian
box offices the record company chose to release the single with
the label Rca Italiana on the cover. This is what should have
happened. Incidentally the not commercial soundtrack album of
Ombre Vive (RCA SP 8001) of 1963 includes the song "Chi Ci
Vedrà" but not "Gianni" that appears so for the
first time on this rare single.(Here
or refer to
the screenshot)
