3 - Review my first French journey-Le Creusot 1979 |

In October 1978, the Qixiashan fertilizer start produce only two days, its main equipment--A turbo-compressor with 27,000 horsepower and 11,000 r.p.m took place a serious accident, its turbine's blade was damaged, the plant has to stop produce. After repaired, it still continuously took place same accident, caused enormous losses. This is my most difficult professional career as its director. Through arduous negotiations, French Heurtey co. and Group Creusot-Loire's specialists admitted it is a designed error and promise to devise and compensate for a new rotator. Under the background I was appointed to lead a group with 5 persons, go to the Creusot for checkout the making rotor from Nov.27,1997 to Feb.28,1980 for 3 months.

We go through Paris, Lyon arrived the Le Creusot. It is a little city. The plant of groupe Creusot-Loire just is there. The plant is a French famous steel and manufacturing base for large locomotive, submarine, nucleus power and hydropower station....it was built in 1782, it possess important position in French heavy industry and war industry. Because I don't understand the French and the time passed too long, so I don't know its real address, I only remember it is between Dijun and Lyon. Fortunately I make detail diary in that period, I found out the book that has been lied idle for many years. Look over every pages, at last found some information about address: "Groupe Creusot-Loire Etablissements Du Creusot 71200 Le Creusot"

I have found some images with address, example Rue de l'Eglise, Rue d'Autun, MONTCENIS .... then I found them from the map. At last I found the "MONTCENIS" and those street(Below) |

In order to find the position of the Creusot plant,I use the search engine to search the "Creusot" and got many results, unfortunately, one is many web site cannot be opened fast, other one is French site. But I still found some information. First is a news in 1984 from "The New York Times" |

But I don't feel suddenness about this kind of news, now I need to know that the plant's name and real address. I continuous search, at last I found some useful information |

"Creusot Forge"! It made me to recall many past things. Right image is a forge press for 100 tons, It was made in 1876 and taken it as a great honour by Creusot's people. Its total weight is 1300 tons, high 21 meter, only the forge hammer weight just is 555 tons. It is most advanced forge press in that time. A old worker Eyssartier introduce it for me: It can put a bottle plug into the bottle but not for moment damage the bottle; open a walnut but not crush the sarcocarp !
Le Creusot! More twenty years passed, it got me too much memory and think. I will spend more time to look for these place I remember, Hotel Moderne Le Creusot I stayed, CM3 workshop I worked, and many French friends' family we visited (From the director to workers)...... I hope the resolution ratio will raise further, so that I can look over them clearly, I will can review the unforgettable old haunt over a great distance..... |

Thanks a lot for the theoretician, research fellow, designer, engineer... who invented and created these new technology, they through thick and thin to explore, failure, study, Create, make us to enjoy these great results. We will remember them, thank them forever. We should also thank those workers, peasants and all common laborers who excavated coal, produced steel and tilled grain on their low-income level (especially Chinese peasants, their income per capita in 2005 is only 3255 Yuan RMB -is about 407 U.S.Dollar, See a official communique in 2005). Their labour is a base of the subsist and development of the society and science. I wish the harmonious society, harmonious world will become reality at last, these great science and technology will better serve humanity! |
